Many first years join our AFES groups as a result of personal referrals, so we are keen to keep encouraging you to be inviting first years in 2023. Many also come to our AFES groups because they find us online. As such, we are keen to generate lots of great content that enable people to easily find our groups.

Strand Group time

We would love you to take 5mins and record a very short personal testimony (video or text) about your experience in your AFES group. It should be honest, compelling and attractive with a view to encouraging first years to join their AFES group on campus in 2023.  These videos will be public and posted on the headingotuni socials and website.

Step 1

We are asking each strand group member to do one of the following two things:

a. Make a 45-60sec video (portrait mode is best for Insta) OR

b. Write 100-150 words and add a portrait photo of yourself.

*If you are filming a video please ensure that you speak clearly, and that the audio is of as good a quality as possible (so maybe don’t film in the dining area!). You might like to give your phone to someone who can film you - just go for head & shoulders in the shot!

Step 2a

We would like the content of your response to be based on answering one of the following questions (different questions for different strands):

Strand 1 & 2 - In what way/s was joining the Christian group really helpful for you as a first year?

Strand 3 - What’s it like being part of a Christian community on campus, and how has this helped you grow as a follower of Jesus?

Strand 4 & 5 - How have you been trained and equipped to love and serve God’s people by your Christian group?

Step 2b

In each case please frame your answer as ;

‘Hi, my name is <Mary> and I’m <a second year Arts student at Macquarie Uni>. I’m part of the <Christian Union> group on campus.’

Step 3

Once you’ve filmed your awesome video or written up some text (save them on your device), then head to WeTransfer on your mobile and press ‘upload files’.

Follow the steps to upload your portrait photo or video, choose ‘get a link’ and press ‘transfer’.

Step 4

Once you’ve got your link, paste this with a few other details into the form below. Our video team will add some graphics and music and share your story online.
